Ian B. Leber, MD, MBA, CPE, FACEP

Dr. Leber joined EMATB in July 2017 as our new CEO. He received his medical degree from Rutgers University-Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in 1997 and completed his Residency training at the University of Pittsburgh where he then served as a clinical instructor of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Leber holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Healthcare Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Isenberg School of Management. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He also is credentialed by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management as a Certified Physician Executive.

Prior to joining EMATB, Dr. Leber served as the Vice-President for Medical Affairs at Hackensack Meridian Health-Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, NJ. Prior to taking that role, he had been the Chair of Emergency Medicine at the same organization. From 2002 until 2008, Dr. Leber was the Vice Chairman and Associate Director for Clinical Operations of the Emergency Departments of Capital Health System in Trenton, NJ. Dr. Leber also served as the Assistant EMS Medical Director for the Mercer County NJ Paramedic Program where he provided medical direction for ground based ALS paramedics and Critical Care Transport units. Dr. Leber has previous experience as an EMS Physician with the City of Pittsburgh Paramedics and was a Flight Physician with STAT MedEvac, also based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Leber has served on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and had previously been a Board Director for a large regional democratic emergency physician group in the northeast. He chaired that organization’s Board Policy Committee and authored the Board Policy Manual. Dr. Leber has extensive experience in emergency department operations and is considered an expert in democratic medical group governance. Dr. Leber’s wife is also a practicing emergency physician and they have one son.
